Making Idiots: How a Paradigm Is Born?
A group of scientists put five monkeys in a cage, and inside it, they placed a ladder with a bunch of bananas. When one of the monkeys climbed up the ladder to get a banana, they hosed the rest with ice-cold water.
After a while when a monkey climbed on the ladder, it got beaten up by the others.
Later on, none of the monkeys climbed up the ladder to get the bananas, then the scientists replaced one of the monkeys.
The first thing the new monkey did was to climb up the ladder; the rest beat it up right away. After a few beatings, the new monkey did not climb on the ladder at all.
The same thing happened with a second new monkey. The first substitute participated gladly in the beatings. A third monkey was changed with the same results. The fourth and the last one were finally substituted.
Then the scientists had five monkeys that never had been hosed with cold water, yet, they beat up any monkey that tried to reach the bananas.
If we could ask them why they beat up anyone trying to reach the bananas, the answer would very probably be:
“I don’t know, things have always been like that…”

A chaque
L’expérience a continué

We're In This Together
I do believe that we can meet special people, people who can change your life.
This happens when you do not expect it. One day, an ordinary day, you come across someone who will make every day of your life a special day and you are far from realizing how important this person will be in your life.
One day you feel that nobody understands you and despite the great number of people surrounding you, you feel like you are alone in the world. Then a person comes into your life and means the whole world to you.
It is a kind of cosmic and spiritual attraction. It is not only finding someone with whom you have a lot of things in common, those special people are different. At first, it seems that everything separates you from that person: culture, opinions, tastes, distance, time … Yet their influence can be so big that they can change your existence.
This attraction is deeper, it is the connection of two souls, the melting of two spirits in one. Those people are special enough to make your inner you immerge, you discover yourself through them, like a mirror reflects your image. And if you are lucky enough, they will change you to a better person. You have found your soulmate.
The most important is that the connection between the two souls is so strong that nothing can tear them apart, and whatever will happen, they will still together.
I do believe that we can meet special people, people who can change your life.

Mediocrity Is The Elephant In The Room
From the movie Casino Jack
Jack Abramoff: You know, I do a shitload of reading and studying and praying, and I’ve come to a few conclusions I want to share.
People look at politicians and celebrities on the TV and the newspapers, glossy magazines — what do they see? “I’m just like them.” That’s what they say. “I’m special. I’m different. I could be any one of them.” Well guess what, you can’t. You know why? Cause in reality, mediocrity is where most people live. Mediocrity is the elephant in the room. It’s ubiquitous. Mediocrity is in your schools. It’s in your dreams. It’s in your family. And those of us who know this — those of us who understand the disease of the dull — we do something about it. We do more because we have to. The deck was always stacked against us. You’re either a big leaguer, or you’re a slave clawing your way onto the “C” train.
Some people say Jack Abramoff moves too fast. Jack Abramoff cuts corners. Well, I say to them, if that’s the difference between me and my family having the good life and walkin’ and using the subway every day, then so be it. I will not allow my family to be slaves. I will not allow the world I touch to be vanilla. You say I’m selfish? F*** YOU! I give back. I give back plenty. You say I got a big ego? F*** YOU TWICE! I’m humbly grateful for the wonderful gifts that I’ve received here in America the greatest country on this planet.
I’m Jack Abramoff. And oh, yeah, I work out every day.
***
Vous me trouvez égoïste?

Notes To My Future Husband
I came across this on MSN Arabia home page (yeah, the first time I see something good in this stupid page!). I like the way it is written: it's funny but true.
By May Rostom
Hey stranger,
Why is it taking you so long to show up? Anyway I know you’re out there somewhere, probably stuck in traffic or dating some dumb girl that’s not right for you (but will most probably lead you to me) so I just wanted to ask if you’d be ok with the following:
Why is it taking you so long to show up? Anyway I know you’re out there somewhere, probably stuck in traffic or dating some dumb girl that’s not right for you (but will most probably lead you to me) so I just wanted to ask if you’d be ok with the following:
1. I take around 30 minutes to get ready. Even when I say “I'm ready”, I’ll probably need 15 more minutes. Don’t worry, it won’t be a problem when we get married, you can watch TV while I brush my hair.
2. I don’t care much about sports unless it involves hot shirtless men, music and dancing, and a romantic love story (you know, like Glee maybe!).
3. My best friend is your best friend, capiche? Pretend you like her, take her out to dinner if I'm out of town and she's lonely, and don’t get pissed when I tell her we fought yesterday (she knows EVERYTHING).
4. Lose the bulky muscles and the tight tank top. I don’t care how much weight you lift at the gym as long as you make me laugh to tears.
5. When I say I'm fine, I'm either fine or, not fine but don’t want to talk about it (TIP: back off).
6. I don’t want to change, I like myself and if I thought anything was wrong with me I would’ve changed it a long time ago. So please don’t try to change me, don’t let me lose my identity. If you're not willing to take me as I am then maybe you don’t deserve me.
7. I have a job; I can pay for my own meals, shoes, food, and cable. It just feels so good to be taken care of by you. It’s really simple, you scratch my back, I scratch yours. Don’t resent it!
8. There’s that time of month when you don’t want to be remotely close to me. TRUST ME!
9. I'm not a fish; my memory tends to last longer than your average two week period. Don’t blame me for bringing up previous arguments, I forgive you already but I'm just using them to prove a point.
10. I'm not always right. When I'm wrong I’ll admit it.
I gotta go now; maybe I’ll run into you today, but until then expect a letter from me shortly!
Love: your future wife.

The Fear of Life
Today, while I was leafing my old notebooks of the university, I found a note that affected me. I remember that the professor told us that the real fear is not the fear of death but the fear of life. He asked us to trace this reflection on the linguistic level. In French, we can find the meaning of the word “vie” (life) in many words which can have a pejorative signification.
The Latin verb “vivere” (to live), for example, from which derives the word “vipera” (viper) which means “a living ribbon”. The word “vipère” in French and “viper” in English refer both to the venomous snake and to a spiteful or a treacherous person. The same thing with the French adjective “vif” or “vivacious” in English, with the meaning of “to act with a kind of brutality, to be aggressive”.
Also the word “animosité” or “animosity” meaning ill will and hostility, and the word “animal” (living, animated) with the meaning of inhuman, savage or violent, both of them are derived from the Latin word “anima” (soul). We can also see this in Arabic for the words « حية » (snake, viper) and « حيوان » (animal) deriving from the verb « حيى » (to live).
I don’t know if this linguistic phenomenon is a coincidence but what is sure is that this fear of life, not of death, is so real. We all know that death is inevitable; she represents the unknown, so why should we be afraid of what we don’t know? However, we always have this apprehension towards what we know: life. It is mainly this feeling of uncertainty, the fear of change, the lack of self-confidence, what the others think of us.
We live in an extremely materialistic and conformist society, which has lost all its values and principles. It is pushing us to comparison and concurrence, to erase all what makes us unique and wants us to be similar and look and think like each others to better control us.
Actually, it is to refuse living our life as we should live it with its simplicity and singularity, to not like ourselves and to project what we hide inside on our environment: we are afraid of those who are different, we criticise, we judge, we deny the other’s right to create and to express himself, we become negative, depressed and aggressive. The real fear is to live the life that we do not want to live.
Happy people are those who know the true meaning of the word “satisfaction”. To be satisfied of what we are rather than to try to look like someone else or like everybody, to be satisfied of what we have rather than always wanting what we don’t have, to enjoy the little pleasures of everyday life rather than to seek for the eternal happiness.

Can You Repeat the Question?
Today, somebody asked me "what is your favorite way to die?" ... Umm .. what?!!! What a weird question to ask! Are we able to chose? How can we combine two words like "die" and "favorite" in the same sentence and do not think that there must be something wrong with it? And above all, what is the point?!
Haven't you noticed that sometimes people ask some very strange questions? Or even simple questions but you cannot answer easily. The best example might be this one: "Why do you love me?". Women ask this question a lot, I must admit that I've already did it, and even if the guy gave me a very good answer, I regret asking it. It is just an annoying question that may have some bad consequences. You better be careful with this ladies, because constantly asking this question might lead to this answer: "well, I'm just asking myself the same question right now". Even men have a question they ask a lot, I won't say it but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about (and you should stop doing it because in this case the answer would be a slap).
I am sure that everyone of us has been once involved in this kind of conversation, when somebody asks for your opinion about something:
A: So, what do you think about it?
B: I like it.
A: Why?
B: I don't know.
A: How can you not know?!
B: Well .. I don't know!
A: Then you don't like it.
B: No, I do!
A: So tell me why?!
B: Well .. ok, you know what, you are right, I don't like it.
A: Really?!
B: Yes.
.
.
.
A: Why?!!!
PS: My answer for the first question (even so, I did answer it) was "I would like to be eaten by Hannibal Lecter" and the guy said: "what a weird answer!" .. Irony.
